Choosing Fresh Strawberries

Strawberries do not ripen after they are picked, so always choose berries that are fully red and ripe.

Keep in mind—bigger isn’t always better. Farm-fresh or garden strawberries are often smaller but much more flavorful than what you find at the grocery store.

How to Store Strawberries

Do not wash strawberries until you’re ready to use them. Store them in the refrigerator and use them within a few days for best flavor.

If you have a large batch and can’t use them right away, remove the stems and freeze them for later use. They’ll keep for several months and are perfect for smoothies, baking, or jam.
