Q: How do you clean and keep clean fiberglass bathtubs and shower stalls. I found this wonderful product called “The Works” but it can’t be used on stainless steel. It takes the finish off. (Learned that the hard way!)
Tip #1: I found that using OxyClean, or generic dollar store stuff works great. I filled the tub full of water, put whole small container of the stuff in there, let it sit, scrubbed with toilet bowl scrubber a bit. This lifted just about all the grime on the no slip checkered bottom, was about 4 months of remodeling dirt and grime. If I would have been smart, would have put plastic around the tub while doing this work, versus just cardboard..hmm..wonder if shrink rap with hair dryer would work…future idea if I ever replace a tub again!!!…Kevin
Tip #2: I have found that using a wet cloth with baking soda does the best job on my fiberglass tub and shower doors. Just make sure to rinse well. It takes off the soap scum, does not scratch and is safe to use on the faucets.
Tip #3: I use the baking soda too (we don’t like to use harsh chemicals where we sit naked after) but lately have been using the Mr. Clean magic eraser once a month or so to get what the baking soda misses and the results are amazing – it’s shiny like new. Having everyone wipe down the shower with their already used towel after helps too and an occasional spritz with vinegar followed by a shine with paper towels helps too.
Tip #4: I use Zep from Home Depot, it is so easy to use and removes the ring around the tub…Tammy
Tip #5: I use the Magic Eraser on the shower stall and tub it takes off even the toughest soap scum build-up. It’s inexpensive and you don’t have to scrub for hours with an abrasive product to achieve a sparkling tub…Andi
Tip #6: I recently found a tip in a baking soda article about baking soda and vinegar and with using a magic eraser our tub was spotless in no time. The vinegar and baking soda do fizz a little, but I guess that’s the magic bullet on our once not so pretty fiberglass tub…Beverly
