Why You’ll Love This Rose Petal Tea

  • Light and refreshing
  • Beautiful floral flavor
  • Perfect for garden parties and brunches
  • Easy to make with simple ingredients
  • A lovely way to use edible flowers

Important Notes About Rose Petals

Always use unsprayed edible rose petals for tea and recipes.

Avoid roses from florists, roadsides, or plants treated with pesticides or chemicals. Wild roses often have the strongest fragrance and flavor, but garden roses work beautifully too if they are chemical-free.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh rose petals
  • 4 green tea bags
  • 1/4 cup bottled lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup sugar or sweetener of choice
  • Water to fill one gallon pitcher

How to Make Rose Petal Iced Tea

Place the green tea bags into a large heat-safe pitcher or container.

Pour a few cups of boiling water over the tea bags and let steep for about 15 minutes. Remove the tea bags.

Meanwhile, place the rose petals in a small saucepan and cover with water.

Bring the water to a gentle boil, then remove from heat and let the petals steep for about 10 minutes.

Strain the rose petal liquid through a fine mesh strainer to remove the petals.

Pour the rose petal tea into the pitcher with the green tea.

Add the lemon juice and sugar, stirring until dissolved.

Fill the rest of the pitcher with cold water and stir well.

Refrigerate until chilled and serve over ice.

What Does Rose Petal Tea Taste Like?

Rose petal tea truly tastes the way roses smell — floral, delicate, and lightly sweet.

Wild roses usually have a stronger flavor and fragrance than cultivated roses, which makes them especially wonderful for tea recipes.

The lemon juice brightens the flavor beautifully, and the green tea keeps the drink light and refreshing rather than overly floral.
