If you love a good savory snack, this Crock Pot Chex Mix is an easy recipe to make for your next party or family gathering.
It’s crunchy, buttery, and seasoned with garlic, onion, and Worcestershire sauce for that classic savory flavor.
One of the things I love about making Chex Mix in the slow cooker is that you don’t have to heat up the oven.
Just mix everything together, pour the seasoned butter over the cereal and crackers, and let your Crock Pot do the work.

You can also customize this recipe with your favorite cereals, crackers, and pretzels. Add nuts if you like, or leave them out if you prefer.

Ingredients for Crock Pot Chex Mix
- 3 cups Corn Chex cereal
- 3 cups Wheat Chex cereal
- 3 cups Cheez-It crackers
- 3 cups pretzel sticks
- 2 cups mixed nuts (optional)
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- Seasoning salt, to taste
You can substitute Rice Chex for the Corn or Wheat Chex, or use a combination of your favorite Chex cereals. Different flavors of cheese crackers are also fun to try.
How to Make Crock Pot Chex Mix
Add the Corn Chex, Wheat Chex, Cheez-It crackers, pretzel sticks, and optional nuts to your slow cooker. Stir gently to combine.
In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, and a little seasoning salt.
Pour the seasoned butter mixture over the cereal and crackers. Stir gently until everything is evenly coated.
Cover and cook on LOW for about 2 1/2 hours, stirring every 30 minutes to help the mixture cook evenly and prevent scorching.
When the Chex Mix is dry and crunchy, turn off the slow cooker and let it cool before serving or storing.
Tips for Making Homemade Chex Mix
Stir regularly. Stirring every 30 minutes helps distribute the butter mixture and keeps the ingredients from sticking or browning too much in one spot.
Customize the ingredients. You can use Rice Chex, Corn Chex, Wheat Chex, cheese crackers, pretzels, and nuts in whatever combination you enjoy.
Adjust the seasoning. If you like a stronger savory flavor, add a little extra garlic powder or seasoning salt. Start with a small amount of salt since the crackers and pretzels are already salty.
Let it cool completely. Allow the Chex Mix to cool before putting it into an airtight container. This helps preserve its crunch.
How to Store Crock Pot Chex Mix
Once the Chex Mix has cooled completely, store it in an airtight container at room temperature.
It makes a convenient snack to prepare ahead of time for parties, road trips, or busy days when you want something crunchy to grab.
