Looking for an easy Halloween dessert that looks impressive without requiring a lot of decorating skills? These Halloween Graveyard Brownies are perfect!
Turn a pan of brownies into a spooky little graveyard with chocolate frosting, simple cookie tombstones, and tiny candy pumpkins.
They’re adorable for a Halloween party and easy enough for the kids to help decorate.
What You Need
- Your favorite brownie recipe or a boxed brownie mix
- Chocolate frosting
- Small cookies for the tombstones
- Black decorating icing
- Small candy pumpkins
- Green decorating icing or frosting
How to Make Halloween Graveyard Brownies
1. Bake the brownies
Prepare your favorite brownies according to the recipe or package directions.
Let the brownies cool completely before decorating. If you try to decorate them while they’re warm, the frosting can melt.

2. Add the frosting
Spread a layer of chocolate frosting over the top of the brownies.
It doesn’t need to be perfectly smooth. A little messy actually works well for a spooky graveyard!
3. Make the tombstones
Use small cookies to create the gravestones.
Write “RIP” on each cookie with black decorating icing. You can also add other little messages if you’d like to make your graveyard more playful.
4. Add the pumpkins
Place the cookie tombstones into the brownies and add little candy pumpkins around them.
A small dab of green frosting underneath the pumpkins makes them look like they’re sitting in little patches of grass.
These graveyard brownies are especially fun because the kids can help decorate them.
Set out the brownies, cookies, icing, and candy pumpkins and let everyone create their own little section of the graveyard. The tombstones don’t have to be perfect—the more homemade they look, the better!
These would be a fun addition to a Halloween party, classroom celebration, or family Halloween night.
