Looking for a fun Halloween treat that looks impressive but is actually really easy to make? These adorable Spider Cupcakes are perfect!
All you need are your favorite cupcakes, some frosting, Oreo cookies, candy eyes, and a little chocolate to make the spider legs.
They’re simple enough for the kids to help with and cute enough for a Halloween party.
What You Need
- Chocolate cupcakes
- White or vanilla frosting
- Oreo cookies
- Candy eyes
- Chocolate melting wafers or chocolate frosting
- Piping bag or small zip-top bag
How to Make Spider Cupcakes
1. Bake the cupcakes
Start with your favorite chocolate cupcake recipe or use a boxed cake mix to keep things simple.
Bake the cupcakes according to the recipe directions and let them cool completely before decorating.

2. Frost the cupcakes
Spread a generous layer of white or vanilla frosting over each cooled cupcake.
You don’t have to make the frosting perfectly smooth. The Oreo spider will cover the center anyway!
3. Make the spider
Place an Oreo cookie in the center of each frosted cupcake. This becomes the spider’s body.
Add two small candy eyes to the top of the cookie. If the eyes don’t stick, use a tiny dab of frosting to hold them in place.
4. Add the spider legs
Melt a little chocolate and put it into a piping bag or small zip-top bag. Snip off the corner and pipe four legs on each side of the Oreo.
Let the chocolate set before serving.
