Looking for some fun Halloween crafts to make with the kids? Before you throw those empty toilet paper rolls in the recycling bin, save a few for some spooky Halloween projects!
Toilet paper rolls are one of my favorite craft supplies because they’re free, easy to find, and can be turned into so many different things.
With some construction paper, paint, googly eyes, and a little imagination, you can turn an ordinary cardboard tube into a whole collection of Halloween characters.
Here are some fun toilet paper roll Halloween crafts to make with kids this year.
Toilet Paper Roll Bat
A little cardboard tube makes the perfect body for a Halloween bat.

You’ll need:
- Empty toilet paper roll
- Black construction paper
- Googly eyes
- Black paint or markers
- Glue
- Scissors
Paint the toilet paper roll black and let it dry.
Cut a pair of bat wings from black construction paper. You can make the wings as simple or elaborate as you like.
Glue the wings onto the back of the cardboard tube and add googly eyes.
For an extra cute touch, add little fangs with white paper.
These would be fun hanging around the house or lined up on a shelf for Halloween.
Toilet Paper Roll Mummy
This might be one of the easiest crafts in the whole collection.
You’ll need:
- Empty toilet paper roll
- White crepe paper, gauze, or white yarn
- Googly eyes
- Glue
Wrap the toilet paper roll with strips of white crepe paper or gauze.
Don’t worry about making it perfect. In fact, the messier the wrapping, the more mummy-like it will look!
Glue on a pair of googly eyes and you’re finished.
Make several little mummies with different-sized eyes for a whole mummy family.
Toilet Paper Roll Frankenstein
Frankenstein is another classic Halloween character that works perfectly with a cardboard tube.
Paint the toilet paper roll green and let it dry.
Use black construction paper or a black marker to add Frankenstein’s hair.
Then add:
- Googly eyes
- Eyebrows
- Nose
- Mouth
- Neck bolts
You can let the kids decide whether their Frankenstein should look friendly, silly, or a little spooky.
Toilet Paper Roll Vampire
Turn a cardboard tube into a little vampire with black paint and construction paper.
Paint the tube black and add a white face.
Then give your vampire:
- Googly eyes
- Black hair
- Red cape
- White fangs
A little red construction paper cape makes this one especially fun.

Toilet Paper Roll Witch
This little witch would make a cute Halloween decoration.
Paint the cardboard tube black or purple and add a face with markers or googly eyes.
For the witch’s hat, cut a triangle from black construction paper, roll it into a cone, and glue it together.
Add a strip of colored paper around the bottom of the hat.
You can even give your witch some yarn hair and a tiny paper broom.
Toilet Paper Roll Ghost
For a simple Halloween craft that even younger children can make, try a toilet paper roll ghost.
Paint the tube white or cover it with white paper.
Add two black eyes and a spooky mouth.
For a fun variation, glue strips of white tissue paper or crepe paper around the bottom so your ghost looks like it’s floating.
You could make several ghosts and turn them into a Halloween display.
Toilet Paper Roll Pumpkin
You don’t have to make every Halloween craft spooky!
Turn a toilet paper roll into a cute little pumpkin instead.
Paint the tube orange and add a jack-o’-lantern face with black paint or construction paper.
Add a small piece of green paper or pipe cleaner to the top for the stem.
Make a whole collection of pumpkins with different faces.
Toilet Paper Roll Spider
This one is perfect for kids who love creepy crawlies.
Paint the cardboard tube black.
Cut eight spider legs from black construction paper or use black pipe cleaners.
Attach the legs to the sides of the tube and add googly eyes.
You can make your spiders different sizes and colors or even give each one a silly expression.
Then use them as Halloween decorations or let the kids play with them.
Toilet Paper Roll Monster
This might be the most fun one because there really aren’t any rules.
Give each child a toilet paper roll and let them create their own monster.
Set out:
- Construction paper
- Googly eyes
- Pipe cleaners
- Pom-poms
- Yarn
- Markers
- Glue
- Craft foam
The more mismatched the supplies, the better!
Some monsters might have three eyes, some might have horns, and some might have six arms.
Toilet Paper Roll Scarecrow
If you want something that bridges Halloween and fall, make a little toilet paper roll scarecrow.
Cover the tube with brown, tan, or plaid paper.
Add a face and make a little scarecrow hat from construction paper.
You can even glue some raffia or pieces of straw-colored yarn around the top.
This would be especially cute displayed with little pumpkins and other fall decorations.
