Looking for an easy Halloween craft that doesn’t require a trip to the craft store? This simple paper plate ghost craft is a fun project for kids and uses supplies you probably already have at home.
It’s quick to put together, inexpensive, and makes a cute Halloween decoration for the house.
What You Need
- 1 white paper plate
- Black construction paper
- White tissue paper or white crepe paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Black marker
- String or ribbon, if you want to hang your ghost
How to Make a Paper Plate Ghost
1. Make the ghost’s face
Start with a white paper plate.
Cut two eyes and a mouth from black construction paper. You can make them round, oval, or give your ghost a silly expression.
Glue the eyes and mouth onto the paper plate.

You can also draw the face directly onto the plate with a black marker if that’s easier.
2. Add the ghost’s body
Cut several strips of white tissue paper or crepe paper.
Glue the strips around the bottom edge of the paper plate so they hang down like the ghost’s flowing body.
You can make the strips long and wavy or cut them into different lengths for a fun, fluttery look.
3. Hang your ghost
If you want to use your ghost as a Halloween decoration, punch a small hole near the top of the paper plate and thread a piece of string or ribbon through it.
Hang your ghosts from a doorway, window, or wall.
Make a Whole Ghost Family
This is one of those crafts that’s even more fun when you make several.
Give each ghost a different expression. Make one happy, one surprised, one sleepy, and one extra spooky.
You could even let each child in the family make their own ghost.
