Place the dried rosemary into a clean mason jar. Add the rosemary essential oil if using.

Using dried herbs helps prevent moisture from shortening the shelf life of your oil.

Step 2

Pour the carrier oil over the rosemary until it is completely covered.

Leave about 1/2 inch of space at the top of the jar.

Step 3

Seal the jar and place it in a cool, dark location for 2 to 4 weeks.

Shake the jar gently every few days to help the rosemary infuse into the oil.

Step 4

Strain the rosemary from the oil using cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer.

Discard the herbs.

Step 5

If desired, stir in rosemary essential oil for a stronger fragrance and Vitamin E oil to help extend the shelf life.

Pour into a dark glass bottle for storage.

Quick Warm Infusion Method

Need your body oil sooner?

Place the jar into a saucepan with a few inches of warm water.

Heat over very low heat for 2 to 3 hours, making sure the oil never reaches a boil.

Remove from heat, cool completely, strain, and bottle.

How to Use Rosemary Body Oil

  • Massage into damp skin after showering.
  • Use as a daily moisturizer.
  • Apply to dry elbows, knees, and heels.
  • Use as a massage oil.
  • Massage onto hands before bedtime.
  • Apply to cuticles to help soften dry skin.

Choosing a Carrier Oil

Sweet Almond Oil

A lightweight, nourishing oil that’s suitable for most skin types.

Jojoba Oil

Closely resembles the skin’s natural oils and absorbs quickly.

Grapeseed Oil

A light, non-greasy option that’s perfect for oily or combination skin.

Fractionated Coconut Oil

Long-lasting, lightweight, and ideal for massage oils.

Apricot Kernel Oil

Excellent for sensitive or mature skin.

Storage Tips

Store rosemary body oil in a cool, dark place.

When stored properly, it will usually last 6 to 12 months, depending on the carrier oil you choose.

Discard if the oil develops an unpleasant odor.
