Easy Vampire Pumpkin Halloween Craft for Kids

Looking for a fun Halloween activity for kids? These adorable vampire pumpkins are such a cute way to turn mini pumpkins into little Halloween characters.

They’re simple enough for kids to help make and would be especially fun for a Halloween party, classroom party, or Halloween birthday party.

All you need are a few inexpensive supplies and some mini pumpkins. Then let the kids get creative making their own silly, spooky vampire faces.

What You’ll Need

Small mini pumpkins
Small craft knife
Plastic vampire teeth
Small red push pins
Spoon or pumpkin scoop
Black marker (optional)

A note about safety: An adult should handle the pumpkin carving and anything involving a sharp knife. Kids can help with the decorating once the pumpkin is prepared.

How to Make Vampire Pumpkins

1. Choose Your Pumpkins

Look for small pumpkins or mini pumpkins that sit fairly flat so they won’t tip over.

White or pale-colored pumpkins are especially fun for vampire faces, but orange pumpkins would work too.

2. Cut the Mouth

Using a small knife, carefully cut a wide mouth into the front of the pumpkin.

Remove the piece you cut out and scoop away some of the pumpkin flesh from inside so there is room for the vampire teeth.

This is the part an adult should do if you’re making these with children.

3. Add the Vampire Teeth

Push a set of plastic vampire teeth into the opening.

You may need to make the opening slightly smaller or larger depending on the size of your teeth.

This is where the pumpkin really starts to look like a little vampire!

4. Add the Eyes

Use two small red push pins for the eyes.

You could also use black or other colored pins to give each pumpkin a different personality.

If you’re making these with younger children, an adult should put the pins in place.

5. Give Your Vampire Some Personality

This is the fun part!

Make each vampire pumpkin a little different. You could give one a goofy grin, another a scary expression, or add little eyebrows or hair with a marker.

You could even give each one a name.

Set up a decorating station with mini pumpkins and the supplies, then let each child create their own vampire.
