Lilac Iced Tea

Easy homemade lilac iced tea recipe made with fresh lilac blossoms, black tea, and optional sweetener. A light floral spring drink perfect for brunches, garden parties, and warm afternoons.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh lilac blossoms stems removed
  • 4 black tea bags or 2 tablespoons loose black tea
  • 8 cups water
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar or honey optional
  • Ice for serving
  • Lemon slices for garnish optional

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Lilacs
  2. Rinse lilac blossoms gently in cool water.
  3. Remove flowers from stems and discard stems.
  4. Brew the Tea
  5. Bring 4 cups water to a boil.
  6. Remove from heat.
  7. Add tea bags and lilac blossoms.
  8. Cover and steep for 10 to 15 minutes.
  9. Strain
  10. Remove tea bags.
  11. Pour mixture through a fine mesh strainer to remove blossoms.
  12. Sweeten
  13. While tea is still warm, stir in sugar or honey until dissolved (if using).
  14. Chill
  15. Add remaining 4 cups cold water.
  16. Refrigerate until cold.
  17. Serve
  18. Fill glasses with ice.
  19. Pour iced tea over ice.
  20. Garnish with lemon slices if desired.

Recipe Notes

Use only unsprayed edible lilac blossoms.
Adjust sweetness to taste.
Green tea can be substituted for a lighter version.
Store refrigerated up to 3 days.
