Spicy Jalapeño Margarita

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces tequila
  • 1 ounce orange liqueur Triple Sec or Cointreau
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 ounce agave syrup or simple syrup adjust to taste
  • 3 –5 fresh jalapeño slices remove seeds for less heat
  • Ice

Optional Garnishes

  • Lime wedges
  • Jalapeño slices
  • Tajín or salt for rimming the glass

Instructions

  1. If desired, rim your glass with lime juice and dip into Tajín or salt.
  2. Add jalapeño slices to a cocktail shaker and gently muddle to release flavor.
  3. Add tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, agave syrup, and a handful of ice.
  4. Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.
  5. Fill a margarita or rocks glass with fresh ice and strain margarita into the glass.
  6. Garnish with jalapeño slices and a lime wedge.
  7. Serve immediately.

Adjust the Heat

  1. Mild: 1–2 jalapeño slices, seeds removed
  2. Medium: 3–4 slices with some seeds
  3. Spicy: 5+ slices or let jalapeños infuse in tequila for 15–30 minutes before mixing
