In a mortar and pestle, grind the dried lavender with 1 tablespoon of the sugar until finely ground.

In a large bowl, combine flour, cocoa, salt, remaining sugar, and the lavender mixture.

In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs and vanilla extract. Slowly add melted butter and mix until smooth.

Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.

Pour batter into prepared baking dish and smooth the top.

Bake for about 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
