These ham and cheese tea sandwiches are a pretty brunch idea for tea parties, bridal showers, baby showers, Easter brunch, and Mother’s Day gatherings. Pair them with cucumber tea sandwiches, smoked salmon tea sandwiches, chicken salad tea sandwiches, and strawberry tea sandwiches for a beautiful party spread.

Ingredients

  • 12 slices soft white or wheat sandwich bread
  • 8 slices deli ham
  • 6 slices Swiss cheddar, or Gruyère cheese
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise or softened butter
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Thin cucumber slices or arugula optional
  • Fresh chives or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Lay the bread slices on a clean surface and lightly spread each slice with butter or mayonnaise.
  2. Spread Dijon mustard on half of the bread slices if using.
  3. Layer cheese slices on six pieces of bread, then top with folded slices of ham.
  4. Add cucumber slices or arugula if desired.
  5. Top with the remaining bread slices and gently press down.
  6. Trim the crusts with a sharp knife for a traditional tea sandwich presentation.
  7. Cut sandwiches into triangles, rectangles, or small squares.
  8. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and refrigerate until ready to serve.
