Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground pork or ground chicken, turkey, or beef
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated (or 1 teaspoon ground ginger)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 14 oz bag coleslaw mix (shredded cabbage and carrots)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari for gluten-free
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha or chili paste optional
  • 2 green onions sliced
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds optional, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the ground pork and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  3. Add the diced onion, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until fragrant and the onion is softened.
  4. Stir in the coleslaw mix and cook until the cabbage begins to soften, about 5 minutes.
  5. Add the soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sriracha, if using. Stir well to combine.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Top with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds before serving.

Recipe Notes

You can easily substitute ground chicken, turkey, or beef for the pork. Use tamari in place of soy sauce for a gluten-free option. The sriracha is optional if you prefer a milder dish.
