Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

These are a fun chocolate cookie to make for gifts to give away during the holidays. They look like they are brushed with snow. They also freeze well so that you can make them ahead of time.

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. vegetable oil
  • 1 c. cocoa powder
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 1/3 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • powdered sugar

 

Directions:

 

Beat together sugar, vegetable oil, and cocoa powder. Beat in eggs and vanilla extract.

 

In another bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir into chocolate mixture.

 

Place dough in the refrigerator for at least an hour so that it will be easier to handle.

 

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Form dough into 1-inch balls. Roll each ball into powdered sugar. Make sure to coat the whole ball really well or when the cookie is baking the powdered sugar will “disappear” off of the cookie. Don’t be shy with the powdered sugar.

 

Place balls 2 inches apart on the cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes. This recipe makes a lot of cookies, about 5 dozen.

 

These cookies have a lot of flavor. I have made a lot of cookies with chocolate cake mix, and this homemade version is much better.
